June 19, 2013 (New York, NY) – Today, the Public Advocate campaign of Councilwoman Letitia “Tish” James announced the endorsement of the Jim Owles Liberal Democratic Club. James was endorsed on the strength of her record of fighting for social and economic justice, including LGBT rights.

“The Jim Owles Liberal Democratic Club is thrilled to support Councilmember Tish James in her bid for Public Advocate,” said club President Allen Roskoff. “She has stood with us in fighting for equality and economic justice and has a record of being a strong advocate for the LGBT community. We are confident that she will continue to fight against the injustices that face our community as well as all New Yorkers.”

“As a long-time advocate for civil rights, including equality for our LGBT brothers and sisters, I am truly honored to earn the endorsement of the Jim Owles Liberal Democratic Club,” said Councilwoman Letitia “Tish” James, candidate for Public Advocate. “The passion and persistence with which Jim Owles fought for LGBT equality is the same drive all of us must use to advance the progressive agenda in our time. I’m running to be the next New York City Public Advocate so I can fight for every community and ensure that all New Yorkers have access to good jobs, quality education and healthcare, affordable housing, and, most importantly, civil rights.”
